Koh Samui News Update: Samui Clean Up Day 2011

Tourists??helped to????clean up the beach (Koh Samui, Thailand)

Koh Samui is located in the Gulf of Thailand, approximately 700 kilometres south of Bangkok. Known as the Coconut Island, Koh Samui is one of the kingdom???s most famous and popular attractions, and the third largest island after Phuket and Koh Chang (Trat Province).

Government sectors, local businesses and communities gathered at Chaweng Lake to help Samui clean up on 24 April

During March 26-29, 2011, Samui and the surrounding islands were hit by heavy rain storms and flooding but have now returned to normal and ???Samui Clean Up Day?? is the latest co-operated activity between government sectors, local business and communities to join forces in a major clean-up of Koh Samui after the recent storms and flood situation. The event took place on April 24th at Chaweng Lake, located in the north-east of Koh Samui.

And to encourage more travellers to visit the island, Bangkok Airways will launch a special ??? all inclusive return fare Bangkok – Samui of 4300 THB nett (US$144) which will be launched at Siam Paragon???s The Ultimate Dreamed Destination fair held during 12 ??? 20 May. Passengers can also grab this deal through Bangkok Airways??? website www.bangkokair.com only during this open sale period. This special promotion will be valid for travel within 30 July 2011.

Moreover, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will launch a series of events to promote Samui and other tourist spots in southern Thailand which will include; media fam trips, Table Top Sales, the launch of ???Tid Koh?? pocket book. TAT will also invite the affected private tourism sectors to attend its trade show without charge at ???Mahadsajun Tiew Muang Thai?? held 26 ??? 29 May at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, and will hold ???Amazing Thailand Grand Sale?? for the first time on Koh Samui between 15 June ??? 31 August 2011.

Samui is back in business and is ready to welcome its tourists back this Summer.
